Difference between a molecule and a compound

All compounds are molecules but not all molecules are compounds!

An O2 molecule is NOT a compound.



CO2 is a molecule AND a compound.



A molecule MUST consist of at least 2 atoms.

A compound MUST consist of at least 2 atoms.

Here's the KEY DIFFERENCE:

A compound MUST contain at least 2 DIFFERENT ELEMENTS.
